Funky’s Hot Sauce Factory spices up season 23 of 'Hot Ones'
Funky’s Hot Sauce Factory might be based in Bellingham, but this homegrown brand has fans across the U.S. Funky’s top-selling sauce will be featured in season 23 of “Hot Ones,” an Emmy-nominated YouTube talk show featuring “hot questions and even hotter wings.”
The premise of “Hot Ones” is simple: Host Sean Evans interviews celebrities as they chow down on a platter of chicken wings. Ten wings are each prepared with different, increasingly spicy sauces. Funky’s most popular sauce, Stellar Fuzz, will be used for chicken wing No. 3 throughout the season.
This isn’t the first time Funky’s has gained national attention: In 2022, the brand was dubbed the “Screaming MiMi Grand World Champion” at the New York City Hot Sauce Expo. Since that victory, Funky’s has won nine additional awards for six of its sauces — including three for Stellar Fuzz.
Stellar Fuzz is just one of 16 hot sauces in the Funky’s lineup. Each one is mostly organic and non-GMO, and Funky’s sources many of its ingredients from farms and businesses in Whatcom and Skagit counties.
Want to test your own spice tolerance? You can pick up a bottle of Funky’s at a variety of local retailers, including the Community Food Co-op, Haggen and Elizabeth Station. For more information, plus a full list of retailers, visit funkyshotsaucefactory.com.
